Sustainable Sneakers Made with Recycled Plastic Bottles
A new fashion brand that is sustainable, ethical and cruelty free that takes care of the planet by using 100% recycled materials.
Fortunately, people are becoming more and more aware of how important it is to care for the environment and how our actions affect it. This idea is not only reflected in areas such as recycling, but also in the fashion industry. This is where KUMI comes into play.
KUMI Sneakers is a brand of sneakers made from recycled plastic bottles and full of dreams of a better world. The creators, Sergio and Alexandra, are two young globe‐trotters and animal lovers with a focus on ethics and sustainability.
With this project, they wish to take care of this planet they love so much by giving their globe-trotter community a brand that matches their values as well as their style.
Unlike other sustainable fashion brands, KUMI uses vegan, sustainable and recycled materials put together into a stylish design. This is how they create modern, urban designs that you can wear to explore any remote corner of the world.
These sneakers are made with recycled materials, such as recycled plastic bottles, that reduce the environmental impact. By doing this, they give a new life to those waste products that pollute and damage our natural environment and the animals.
One of the pillars of KUMI Sneakers is helping to achieve a society where animal rights are respected so they have a dignified life, free from exploitation, abuse and testing. For this reason, the brand collaborates with FAADA an animal organization that fights to achieve a society where coexistence among all living beings is based on respect, and also the animal shelter of Barcelona who they take in abandoned, homeless and/or abused animals until they find the perfect family to spend the rest of their life with.
KUMI Sneakers have three well-established principles: respect and love for animals, a fashion industry that is sustainable and advocates for the use of vegan, recycled materials; and lastly, supporting local production, therefore reducing the CO2 footprint and contributing towards the local economy.
Following the creators’ words, KUMI Sneakers is much more than a sneakers project. “With KUMI Sneakers we want to create a community of globe‐trotters that, step by step, seeks to leave a sustainable footprint and advocates for a change in society.”
There are currently six different designs but only one prototype, because from 16th of March until 15th of April they have a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter where those who like the proposal can chip in and give a long life to this project.
